TCR Virtual gives the contenders the opportunity to drive real racing cars
Motorsport is the only form of sport that can be virtually replicated in a way that is very close to reality, thanks to the use of state-of-the-art software and sophisticated hardware. As a consequence, Sim Racing has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years giving people of any age the possibility of experiencing the feelings of real racing drivers.
WSC has launched a Virtual platform for TCR, with the aim of drawing new fans to the TCR world and creating a new and effective marketing tool. TCR Virtual’s ultimate goal is to give contenders the opportunity to drive real racing cars.
The Concept
Just as occurred in real Touring Car racing that was reshaped by TCR, a common concept was also missing in the Sim Racing world and fans were asking for TCR models.
Following a test with real drivers in 2020, WSC began developing its Official TCR car models for Assetto Corsa, one of the most realistic and popular simulator software packages.
WSC launched the TCR Virtual community and organised the first TCR Virtual Cup which attracted more than 10,000 subscribers at first stage.
The Platform
TCR Virtual includes two kinds of competitions during the year: From January to September, the TCR Virtual Series are dedicated to TCR Promoters, Sponsors or Manufacturers and are held over an 8-week period. A Series may be dedicated to a specific geographical area or to a specific car model.
From October to December, the TCR Virtual Cup, the biggest worldwide Sim racing competition, is held as a knockout tournament with races that qualify for the continental finals.
Competitors are divided into three Continental areas: Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe. At the end of the Cup, the best classified drivers from each Continent are invited to the Global Final that crowns the TCR Virtual Champion
