The CUPRA Leon is named 2025 TCR Model of the Year

The CUPRA Leon was named the 2025 TCR Model of the Year. This honorary accolade awarded by WSC is based on a classification that takes into account the results achieved by all TCR-certified cars in all TCR-sanctioned races held during the season.

In 2025, a total of 314 races awarded points for the Model of the Year classification. The CUPRA Leon with its Competición and VZ versions scored 6150.75 points and 78 race wins thanks to 659 starts in 19 TCR-sanctioned series. The most outstanding achievements were the titles in TCR Europe with Jenson Brickley for Monlau Motorsport, TCR México with Juan Pablo Sierra for Centur Silen Racing and TCR UK with Adam Shepherd for Capture Motorsport, but also the three race wins scored by Aurélien Comte and SP Compétition in the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour. On top of this, Giovanni Scamardi clinched the TC France title for SP Compétition, while the Leon cars scored victories in other series including three in TCR Spain, three in TCR South America and two in the IMSA Challenge.

WSC President Marcello Lotti said: “Many congratulations to CUPRA Racing and their customer teams. SEAT was the first ever manufacturer to embrace the TCR concept back in 2015 and the first-generation Leon was named TCR Model of the Year on the first year of this award. So, it’s quite appropriate that CUPRA picks up the baton ten years later.”

“Being named TCR Model of the Year is a proud moment for everyone involved in CUPRA Racing. The CUPRA Leon VZ TCR has proven its performance, reliability and engineering excellence by winning championships and races across Europe, America and Asia. These results confirm that competition, innovation and passion are truly at the heart of CUPRA’s DNA.” Commented Xavi Serra, Global Director of CUPRA Racing.
